Caulophyllum to get my VBAC

Hi,

I am 1 week away from my due date, I am planing on taking some homeopatics to get things going I am already taking Evening Primroe Oil and plan on taking the Caulophyllum (blue Cohosh) next week.

My Question is who has experience with caulophyllum and how did you take it (tinkture, homeopatic balls, etc.) ? How much did you start with?

I want to try as homeopartic inducing, or rippening as I do not want to feel pressured in the last minute when they might tell me if I do not go into labor I get a repeat C-section. If I have some progress I might go soon and under less pressure.

Any help is appreciated

Claudi

Thanks for that, abimommy! I have been needing more info about homeopathy and pregnancy.

And I agree with what is said about cimcifuga and caullophylum--I have not known it as an inducer of labor, but as a way to help put labor on a better footing, so to speak. These remedies, or just caullophylum alone, can help sort out a dysfunctional labor for sure; it's just not what I think of as an inducing thing.

Claudi81--healthy babies come out when they are ready, unless (as suggested by the homeopathic site linked, and by some mws I know) there is some fear in the way. Babies take varying amounts of time to cook! I would be more inclined to suggest tactics and remedies for that help you to feel strong enough to trust yourself and baby, strong enough to resist the fears and attempts to compel you that may come from your HCPs. As long as *you* believe you and baby are fine, you don't have to consent to any medical procedure/medication you are not 100% comfortable with. You might agree, for the sake of your own peace of mind , and keeping your HCPs more or less 'happy' (), to things like biophysical profiling to check on baby's condition once you get to 41wks...but with no indicators of problems, you can continue to trust that baby will come when both of you are ready.

Evening Primrose Oil can be a good way to encourage cervical ripening, but you need to go easy on it because it can cause too much ripening without enough oxytocin to produce contractions. Ripening of cervix happens best in balance with your increasing production/release of oxytocin, as will be evidenced by your feeling more contractions over these final days/wks of your pregnancy.

Finally--I consider Blue Cohosh tincture (not homeopathic but herbal) to be a 'medicine herb'--it has it's uses for sure, but should be used cautiously d/t potential side effects. And anyway--if it ain't broke, why try to fix it? Probably safer and more supportive of nature at this point to stay well fed, well hydrated, well rested/relaxed....to walk or dance or swim (etc) regularly, and love on your partner and baby, and really enjoy this last phase of your pregnancy as a gentle loving way to 'prepare for birth'.

I agree about cohash tincture. One might as well use pictocin, it produces strong contractions and you really shouldn't use it without guidance from a HCP, particularly for a VBAC.
