peanut butter

this is probably a silly question but how do you make homemade peanut butter? I'm thinking just peanuts in a food processor?? is there something else that needs to be added? Thanks to anyone who can help me out

Nope, that's it. It takes longer than you expect though, to go from crumbly to paste. You CAN over-process it though, so don't walk away from it... it'll turn to a syrup consistency when it's over-done.

I use peanuts, honey, and a bit of peanut oil to make it spreadable. mmmmm.

I like mine with some salt.

I use roasted (shelled) peanuts in my Vitamix, nothing added. It takes a bit of intuition to process correctly without burning out your motor. I scoop out some "crunchy" pb for me and baking in a small glass jar and then process the rest "super smooth" for DH & DD into a bigger glass jar. It all spreads easily. MMMmmmmmm!!!!!

thanks! I just tried it out and can't imagine ever buying pb ever again! so easy and it came out great. I think I might have let the engine get a little too hot though b/c the PB came out pretty warm :/

The heat is what takes so long... it has to heat up a bit to extract the oils so it will go from crumbles to paste.
