Grrr...frustrated

I am currently doing a medical transcription course through Pennfoster.com. For those who aren't familiar with it, it's completely self paced and online (though materials get shipped to you and you do have the option of submitting paper tests).

I did a test last week or so and did miserably on it. I waited the couple days to retest and reread the material. The test was on Punctuation and Capitalization. One of the questions I missed had NOTHING to do with this unit and was actually part of a unit 2 books back.

I emailed an instructor to ask if the question was correct or a misprint and had to wait 1.5 days for a reply. He was very unhelpful and told me that in order to take an exam and expect to pass you needed to have mastered the material from that book and the books before it. If I had any further questions to email the school. I did. Exact same email specifically stating that the question in mind had nothing to do with the current test and I needed to know if this was a misprint. I didn't want to retake the test and automatically get it wrong based on that. I get another email 1.5 days later from the SAME guy. This time he explained himself a bit more but it was basically the dumbed down version of his first email.

I kindly suggested he not reply to me again seeing as he wasn't being useful. I wasn't asking for an answer to the question. I simply want to know if the stupid question is even correct! I get an email from some other instructor with the EXACT same email as the other persons' (I swear they were not reading what I was asking). I never did hear from the school.

I finally retook the test just now. I reviewed the question by using the correct book and I still got it WRONG!!! I'm so flickin' irritated right now. I know the stupid answer. I already answered this question 2 tests back but because no one seemed to understand what the crap I was asking I still got it wrong.

I'm tempted to write and complain. I understand them not wanting to give answers. That's kind of a given. I wasn't asking for an answer though! It's also extremely irritating that I never got a legit response. I read all 3 to my sister and by the 4th word in on the last email she was even groaning. I read her my email. It was obvious what I was asking! I'm moving on to the next section but good grief.

sorry about your experience. It can be really frustrating. That sort of thing happens in regular face-face school too and the instructors usually say the same sort of thing. "I cannot give you any help on this exam."

You can dispute it or just roll with it as a poorly worded question. Hopefully you got enough others correct and if enough people get the same question wrong, they might notice a trend.

That's the thing. I wasn't asking for help on the exam. I was asking if the exam was even correct. It wasn't a poorly worded question. It was a question having nothing to do with the unit. I got it wrong again and the answer they said was right had nothing to do with the question.
