Islam box

We received our Islam box. DH has wanted one for awhile, so we finally got it. It's like a cable box, but it's all Islamic programs, in English, Arabic, and Urdu I believe. There are kids programs and cartoons also (in Arabic, i'm not sure about English, I haven't watched that much yet).

I think this was started by Dr Zakir Naik, the PeaceTV guy. I really was leery about the box because I didn't think the programs would be very clear, or good picture. I don't know why I thought that. It's just like watching regular tv. I like it because I can have the Quran playing in the background if i'm cooking, or if DS is playing.

It's really neat. You can also watch most of the programs online. It is easy to hokk up also, I think it took DH 5 minutes, and the box is the size of a small phone book maybe.

I am pretty impressed with it.

This is a neat idea, especially since we don't have a cable option, but I think I'm too cheap to pay $15/mo . Maybe when DD is old enough to watch tv more.

My DH has talked about getting one, but we find so much online for free on Fomny. Still... it's very very tempting.

we have something like that for christians... called "skyangel". it's ok... some of it's hooky stuff. like really hooky. but there are some good decent programs on there. no sex or violence and I really enjoy that. I like watching a good show with my husband or letting the kids watch a cartoon sometimes. my only complaint is there is little variety (but it keeps me from being a couch potatoe!)

I always wondered if there was anything like that for muslims/jews...
