Swaddling Blankets ? - Page 2

Another vote for the Miracle Blanket. We received the velcro one (SwaddleMe) also and it just didn't work.

Mine is 5 months and 26 inches, 16 lbs. The length is the problem for us (miracle blanket). And I have no clue of what to graduate to, or whether we should stop swaddling cold turkey. (yikes.)

That said, I have a natural color one and a pink one, and the pink one seems stretchier, therefore longer, than the natural one.

I'd get one miracle blanket to have on hand if I was in your shoes. A tiny babe can be swaddled fine in a receiving blanket, but it's MUCH easier/foolproof to get the swaddle just right, every time, with a MB.

we have large cotton velour blankets from ikea that we use. one of our twins is still swaddled at night (and most naps....and most nursing sessions). i love our ikea blankets. the kiddopotomus ones seemed useless to me with this guy (although we used them till over a year with our daughter).

we loved the miracle blanket too, until our littlest started doing the houdini thing and waking all night. then we got the pekemo sleeper, which is different as they have more arm movment, worked for our swaddle addict tho!
good luck

Just leave her legs out.

We use Aden & Anais muslin blankets for swaddling the older babies - the blankets are 4feet by 4feet, are very soft after several washes, and breathe well.

I can still technically swaddle my 8 month old, but he looks at me like I'm crazy.

Yes, we're going to start leaving her legs out to try to transition out of the swaddle very slowly. She likes to have her arms over her head when she co-sleeps after her wake up (usually around 5-6am to 8 am)

She does like to pick up her legs and let them drop onto the crib mattress, and her lags going BAM! is what often wakes me up. So I wonder what the new sound will be when she has two legs free... LOL

Peepers does this! And her crib is sidecarred to my bed, so I hear it AND feel it! I've found she does it most when she's gassy though, so it's a whole other set of issues, LOL.

We bought/received a few of these before my son was born and looked forward to using them. But he's a skinny little dude and the velcro didn't meet up properly for them to be of any use for a good, secure swaddle. We just used gerber receiving blankets for his first couple of months and then found bigger flannel (and later, muslin) swaddling blankets for him. He still needs a swaddle now and then, but is too tall for the swaddleme things, so we use the blankets.

I could not "get" the hang of the miracle blanket, and thanks to the recommendations on here, I bought 4 aiden+anais blankets off of eBay (couldn't find any in Ontario stores) and they are AWESOME. They are huge, I can still swaddle DD (6 months, 17.5 pounds) and we use them for everything. As a pp said, they are so soft after a few washes, and so light you don't have to worry about overheating. We are BIG fans.

I love the SwaddleMe! But I have not tried one of the other special swaddling blankets that have been suggested here (our baby is just over two weeks old, so we don't have a lot of experience yet). He does not wiggle out of the SwaddleMe, though, and does wiggle out of any blanket we swaddle with.

The flannel blankets have not really worked for us because the typical receiving blankets are just not big enough to swaddle really well.

The stretchy waffle style knit blankets are great if the SwaddleMe is dirty.
