Anyone else nightnurses a 3.5 y old?

I do hope so......

I tried night weaning, it worked, from the time ds2 was 4 mo till 7 mo, or so, he is now 12 mo and ds1 is 3.5 y and since he was ill like 5 mo ago, I did night nurse again, now still do....

He will cry or scream when I refuse....

I do not really mind anymore, it is not so irritating, like it was then, I do think I need more sleep...

I nurse ds1 and 2 around 20 o clock, then ds2 around 21.30, then around 2 ds1 and 2, then around 4 ds2, then around 5 ds1 and at around 6, ds2 is awake, so around 7 ds2 again and then ds1 around 7.30.

and sometimes 1 or 2 times more...

Anyone else also this mad??

Oh, wow. I feel for you!!!! I still nurse my son, age 3.5, and he often still sleeps with me and occasionally nurses at night, but usually only once, maybe twice, and not every night.

I don't really have any suggestions but I know how demanding nursing can be, especially at night when all you really want is a few hours of uninterrupted sleep!

Yeah, well, I am very tired, yes, but also surprised to see, how much I can do without so much sleep...

I try to talk to ds1 about it, but even if he says he understands (yeah, i know, 3.5 y)at night he will be so loud, he will wake up ds2 who will want to nurse and THEN saying NO to ds1 is even harder....

we are only at 33 months here, but still night nursing. and i'm tired of it, although he is not. he also nurses to sleep for nap and bedtime. he can fall asleep at both times without it, but prefers not to. i hope we're not in your boat in 6 months, though just *hugs* and commiseration, mama.

We are not quite to 3 1/2, we will be in Feb., but I'm still night nursing my dd once a night and she still nurses to go to sleep. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I have often thought I had to be the only one with a child that nurses to sleep at this age. I hope you get some rest soon.

I am nursing ds2 who is 4 yrs old and ds3 who is 14 months. They both nurse during the day and at night.

Ds2 nurses 1-3 times every night, ds3 nurses about 3-4 times every night. It's usually not that big of a deal, ds1 did the same at 4 yrs old and is now almost 7 and hasn't nursed since 5 1/2. So the end is in sight.

So I guess the answer to your question is ME! ME! ME!

My 3 year old will nurse a bit before going to sleep at night. Some times he will wake to nurse at night but sometimes I can put him off with a drink of water sometimes not. He will also sometimes crawl into our bed in the early morning like between 4-6 and nurse. He isn't in our bed anymore but in our room still, in his toddler bed. He will usually nurse once during the day or if he has an owie.

DD is only about to turn 1 but goes CRAZY if I try not to nurse her when she wakes at night. Funny thing is the few times I have stuck with my "no" (usually because she just nursed within an hour or so) the whole episode is (most times) over with pretty quick. But you don't really have that option - I think having 2 to deal with and trying not to wake another child is what has kept you in this boat for maybe longer than you intended. But I completely understand why you do it! What are your options really, have all of you awake and miserable for hours at night? Not let your older child nurse when he sees the baby nurse? (that is so sad). I am a Nanny and the LO I take care of is exactly 1 year older than DD. When they wake eachother from naps or get eachother upset during the day, I so wish I could nurse them both for the comfort, calm and quiet! I cannot imagine I would do anything different than you are to save my sleep. I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel for you all and a good nights sleep is in your near future!
