37+ weeks and I'm sick - does that mean the baby will be immune?

The whole family is sick. I was the last one to get it. Me and DH were talking over the weekend that once we were clearly healthy (I'm thinking in another 2-3 days) that we would have to disenfect the entire house. I'm going to regarless because we are home birthing and there will be a few people here for that. But does me being sick make the baby immune as well?

Once it has some colostrum, yes. SOME immunities are passed via the placenta, but not all of them, and i can't remember what the limits are. But if you BF, then yes, certainly babe will be immune to whatever you guys have.

Totally anecdotal, but it's shocking how many women have colds or flu bugs in the last 21 days of their pregnancies. When I did an informal survey last time round, something like 60% of my DDC had had something just before giving birth. Can't be total coincidence, surely?

I thought the suppression of the immune system continued to increase throughout pregnancy...? Which would mean it's at its weakest right before you give birth, hence the colds...?

: I don't know about you, but anything to distract myself during the last few weeks of pregnancy can only be a good thing.

Another personal story: My husband got sick during my labor, and I got sick a couple days later. Sneezing and coughing is NOT fun with a repair. Anyway...our DS never got sick. The MW said it was because he was breastfeeding and got some good immunities in the breastmilk.

I read a study once which said that when mama is sick the concentration of antibodies in the breastmilk is initially HIGHER than that in her blood! Amazing stuff that liquid gold
