I've got a Moby...

So I bought a Moby because I became interested in babywearing. However, I've gotten quite frustrated because I've attempted to put LO in it a few times, and every time he has been really fussy while in it. Of course before I try putting him in the wrap he isn't fussy. Has anyone else had this problem with their LO? Is it best to wait a little while (until he is a little older) to try again? Or do I have a lesser chance of him wanting to be in the wrap the older he gets? Help! I really would like to use my wrap but I don't want my LO to be unhappy and stressed out because of it either. Thanks.

My DD loves her Moby now. However, when she was a fresh newborn, she'd only tolerate the Moby if I was doing specifics tasks with her in the Moby i.e. doing dishes. The sound of the water and the motion would instantly put her to sleep. As she got a bit bigger, she wanted to be involved in things around her and not facing inwards. So now she loves the Moby wrap when she's facing outward and can see whats going on around her.

Try different holds with your LO until you find the one that fits.

Like the pp said try different holds. My dd really only liked the "hug hold" (PWCC). And try moving while wearing. Walk, bounce, sway, twist. Just keep trying. If it's not working now it's ok to put it away for a week or so and come back to it later.

Whenever we get a new carrier, or try a new carry, it takes DD a while to get used to it. My best suggestion would be to put your son in the Moby and head immediately outside for a walk. DD has always been most open to my babywearing experiments when we're outside and on the go.

my son also only likes the hug hold. i agree with pp, put DC in the moby, then head out for a walk. the movement and other things to look at, might be just what is needed to feel like the moby is a great place to be.

I agree with everyone--a new carrier often equates with a fussy baby! But it should be short-lived. Do try upright if you have been laying him down. A lot of babies don't like the cradle position.

I would put him in it at least once a day, when he's super well fed and rested and happy to begin with, and then go for a walk, or dance around, and be playful and interactive with your baby in the carrier.

I'd expect he'd be used to inside a week, and then you get to the useful part where the Moby is the one sure way to calm him down when he is fussy! And get chores done!
