Will craft punches work on wool felt?

I need to cut a bunch of circles from wool felt, and I really need them to be consistant. Will the punches I see in Michael's for scrapbooking work on felt? Specifically if I buy it new and only use it for felt or fabric?

tried it earlier this week..... Totally did NOT work. annoying but true in our case.

I tried sandwiching the wool in between paper. It sort of worked--most of the shape came out, but it was still hanging (and a little stretched out) in a few spots, which I just cut around with scissors.
