About a year and a half ago we bought a brand new king size simmons beautyrest mattress. We really needed a new mattress, something very firm and large for us and the kiddos. We also needed to finance it. So we got it for a good price with 0% interest for a year and paid it off before the year was up. We never did any research about how nasty mattresses are, though I pretty much already knew. We also got a protectabed mattress cover for it which I know nothing about and am sure is also quite nasty. DS2 sleeps in our bed everynight on a sheepskin, but I am getting a little concerned about all the nasties we are inhaling. We cannot get rid of it, or sell and buy a new mattress. What can we do? It there a cover out there that is waterproof, since we share with kids, but natural? Something that will keep us from inhaeling all that stuff at night, and keep the dustmites out?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I wonder if something like these would do:

Don't know about the dustmites, regular washing at 60deg. C is probably best way to cope with that (and steaming the mattress itself, too).
