We bed-shared with DS until right before he turned 2. We transitioned him in to a toddler bed at that time-although we would still lie with him until he fell asleep- and since we lived in an apartment- he would wake up in the middle of the night and just crawl into bed with us bc our bed was on the floor.
Now he is almost 2 and a half and we have moved. He have a smaller bed, are on a separate floor from him, and are expecting number 2. He has just started to fall asleep w/o us lying with him, but he still wakes up in the middle of the night and wants reassurance. We always go to him to comfort him when he wakes.
He just figured out he can climb the steps to the third floor to get to us at night and I was really tempted to let him come into bed with us but DH says no. Practically, I would be scared to bedshare with a toddler, a newborn and DH in a queen sized bed, so I see his point. I think I am just upset bc DS is not cuddling with me at night any more. It's hard for me to let go of him
