Mom = Milk

My babe is just a few days old and bf'ing is going great! I remember from ds that in the early days I meant food and he would nurse constantly, if I were around, and I'm an on-demand kind of person, so that meant I bf'd constantly or else passed him off to dh and stepped out of the room occasionally.

I'm planning to babywear this time around, and I'm wondering if most newborns who are worn end up nursing practically non-stop because they are constantly reminded of food, or if they become so habituated to being around/on mom that they regulate more when they are truly hungry versus when they just want comfort/snuggle time.

This may be a question for the Babywearing forum, come to think of it. Mods - move it if you feel appropriate.

I have never encountered a baby who wanted to breastfeed more simply because they are worn. But then again my daughters want to breastfeed as much as I will let them whether they are in the sling or not.

I've worn two. The first wanted to nurse almost constantly. I think she would have regardless of whether I was wearing her. Well, those days I wasn't wearing her she would nurse just as much as other days. The second one has days she nurses very frequently, but generally doesn't want to nurse more than every three hours or so.

In that early baby stage, ds always fell asleep in the sling- and I never managed how to nurse in the sling with him until he hit around 6 months.
I haven't tried yet with dd ( to nurse in the sling) because she also falls asleep almost as soon as she's in the sling. If they did want to nurse more, being in the sling, I would have been in trouble... I can't figure it out with floppy newborns.
