good(drinkable yogurt) vs. evil(HFCS)

my mom was trying to do something good and keep these little drinkable yogurts a her house for my dd because I had mentioned that since she(dd) took a round of abx that I have been trying to get a lot of probiotics into her.
So my mom bought these drinkable probiotic shots for my dd. They are made in Mexico and have HFCS in them. Should I say something about the HFCS or just smile and be happy that she is trying? (She will buy them over and over again if I don't mention it.)

I would thank her for her thoughtfulness, and then suggest an alternate brand, explaining that hfcs is super bad. My mil now buys the astro natural yogurts that are sweetened with honey.

if they have hfcs, i prolly wouldn't put up a huge fuss about having them this once, but beware! all the ones at our store are "lite" versions, which have artificial sweeteners, and that i wouldn't be pkay with even once.

Kind of OT but it kills me that I can say 'yogurt' and mean plain organic, full fat, maybe sweetened with maple syrup, but the whole world will interpret it to mean lowfat/skim, artificially and HFCS flavored crapola.

What about making Kefir or your own drinkable yogurts to bring over?

You can make your own with good organic yogurt (or yobaby or trader joes) and a little liquid... milk or juice.

Yeah, that's a good idea about making it. If I told her she could just blend up a carton of yogurt with some milk and honey and keep that in the fridge she would go for that, she is frugal.

I once told my aunt that DS eats "plain" yogurt and she said "good old vanilla".

Also, recently DS and I ate at Panera. They gave him some drinkable yogurt thing. I didn't even look at the ingredients, it went in the trash before he could even see it! If he ever finds out that "yogurt" can taste like that, we're doomed! In situations that I can't stop it, we make up some name for the "other" food so he doesn't feel anything less about what he usually eats (and enjoys!). So if he did "drink" that one, instead of saying it was yogurt, we'd say it was a "creamy juice treat" or something. Hey, its not really a lie--I don't considder that stuff yogurt like what we eat (raw, grass-fed, organic, full fat, straight from the farm, made by the farmer's wife).

Making drinkable yogurt from store-bought sounds like a great idea.

The thread title jumped out at me b/c of my latest yogurt venture. I am HOOKed on villi. It's a room temp yogurt culture I bought. At first I was leary of the fact that it was a bit thin. Then I figured out a touch of stevia and a whirl w/ the blender and we're set with very yummy, mild drinkable yogurt.

My sister bought some of that evil Dannon junk for my niece, got it home, and then realized it wasn't even yogurt! It was a "dairy snack" that looked like yogurt and was kept with the yogurt, but had no yogurt cultures.

What is the world coming to?

Yeah, about those "dairy snacks", my sister in law told me she was buying the kids "smoothies" now becaue I had told her about how they could maybe try some yogurt(they get so many ABX, they need the bacteria!!!) so she bought these things that DO have fish oil in them but other than that they are not yogurt at all but she thought they were because like you said, they are kept by the yogurt! How deceptive! And why?
