gardeners sprayed weedkiller- how long to keep baby off the grass?

My DD is 14 months now so she plays on the lawn when the weather is nice. I started to worry about what do the gardeners do to the grass when hey come. I saw that they sometimes spray the walkway with something( weedkillers??) and sprinkle fertilizer on the grass. So I started doing some reading and now I do not want them to do any of that! What happened was- I talked to one of the guys that come and told him to not spray anymore and not to do fertilizer but he doesn't speak English well and I think he didn't understand me. I was also afraid that they would forget. SO today DD and I were napping when they came and by the time we came out of the bedroom to look at the guys working I saw one of them finishing spraying the grass in the back yard and praying around my DD's slide!!!!
When is it safe for my DD to go play in the yard again??
Sorry this is so long!

You need to find out what they're using. Maybe you can ask to see the box? There's no way of knowing how long the chemicals persist without knowing what they are. Personally, I am very wary of lawn companies, etc. I know many of them will mix chemicals in unsafe ways and use them indiscriminately. If this is a company you've hired, I would just ask them to stop all use of chemicals...it's just not necessary for weekly maintenance. You might want to consider hiring someone that you can communicate with more easily.

I would wait at least a couple of weeks before extensive play in the garden again.
After talking to our gardeners, they stopped using these things, but occasionally another team had to be reminded again.
