best nappy system to move to west africa with?

posting for a friend.

when the baby is about 6 weeks old she'll be moving back to west africa & wants to take resusable nappies with her. priorities are durability, price & flexibility for use across age groups.

i thought of mother-ease one size or prefolds. any other thoughts?

Is she going to be handwashing? If yes, then I'd say flats, no question.

I was going to say the same thing. Flats with some good covers would probably be the easiest to wash.

flats w/ the new thirsties covers https://www.thirstiesstore.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=25

she could also use 100% cotton flannel recieving blankets like these http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...t_adv_XASD0001 as flats if she wants cute prints

i wondered about hand-washing too. honestly if i had to hand wash diapers i would use flats and i would EC from birth (of course i do that already ). seriously, by 6 months of age most EC babies do most of their pooping in the potty (or appropriate receptacle/location) which is going to greatly minimize her need for scrubbing and sanitizing. and unless she's going somewhere that would be an embarrassing or messy situation if the baby was wet, i wouldn't worry about covers at all. just a couple of PUL covers that dry quickly and are easy to wipe down.
