Anyone birthed outside?

I have always wanted an outoor birth. I have had 2 homebirths but we lived in town and had close neighbors so an outdoor water birth was out of the question. Now, however, we live on 8.5 acres in the country. An outdoor birth is entirely possible.

The only possible problem is I'm due in July, and I live in the south. Which means bugs. I am hopeful that I will have another early morning birth and the bugs will not be out yet.

In a perfect world, I will labor outside in the moonlight, then get in the birth tub that's set up outside. I'll relax in the warm water as the early morning birds start their song, and baby will be born as the sun peeks through the trees and our roosters start crowing.


Anyone birthed outside? Any tips you want to share?

Our last two babies were born outdoors! We live in Texas and both babies were born in May, two years apart. I walked around our neighborhood in labor and got in the hot tub in our backyard to birth. We used a large patio umbrella to provide some privacy and protection from the sun. Both births were beautiful and being outdoors caused no trouble at all! We went to our bed to deliver the placenta and the short walk from the backyard to our room was easy. My labors are relatively short and summer days in the South are very long so both of ours were born before dark. I absolutely loved my outdoor births and will miss being outside when we welcome our new baby after Christmas. Best wishes for a perfect birth!

I love the idea of birthing outside, but not where I am! Sorry I have nothing to contribute but I'm excited for you!

I would love to have the option to birth outside if the temp and feeling was right.
I live in a condo though, so I'm pretty sure that's not happening!
