hip carry for toddler

Thread Starter
what's a good hip carrier for a toddler who likes to be up and down; mainly for shopping, walks, etc

i have an ergo and love it, but it's a production getting it on and off with her in and out and if she wants out, then i'm stuck with it on and looking

thanks!

My favourite carrier besides my ergo is my short woven wrap (shorty, rebozo). For rebozo carries you will want it to be between 2.5-3.2 meters depending on your size. You can use it just like a ring sling, except you tie a slip knot instead of having rings. I actually was surprised how easy it was to use, and I use it for a hip carry all the time with my 27 mo dd. It can fold up much smaller than the ergo to put in a bag, or can even be worn like a shawl when baby isn't in it. I have a Didymos linen indio but most any brand of woven wrap will work (Storchenwiege, Neobulle, Hoppediz, etc.).

My favorite for the up-and-down toddler stage was my Maya wrap ring sling. DS wanted to be in and out nonstop once he hit about a year old. I used the ring sling for him for all of our short trips.

Second vote for the ring sling (I have a Maya wrap too, love it).

It's really good for up-and-down; only problem is if baby wants to stay in it for a longer period of time, it is really terrible on your posture/shoulder strain.

Maybe it looks a little funny to be wearing an empty ring sling but mine is actually kind of pretty, you could think it was just a nice shawl with a ring decoration or something.

Another vote for ring slings for the ups and downs. I cannot wear DS for long in one anymore unless I do more of a tummy to tummy carry. If I think I he will want to be up for any period of time, I bring a woven wrap with me.
