"Vaccines are now perhaps seen to be more attractive than drugs," says Dr. Stanley Plotkin, a former University of Pennsylvania professor and industry researcher who helped develop the German measles and rotavirus vaccines. Vaccines command higher prices — roughly $375 for the three-shot Gardasil series — and so are more profitable than in the past.
Manufacturers think that vaccines are more attractive than drugs because they can sell them for more. The article does a good job at showing that vaccines are are very profitable and are becoming even more profitable every year.

Not only are they extremely profitable, but manufacturers are exempt from any liability should their product cause any damage....now that's attractive. That's like telling a criminal that even if they are caught, they won't be punished or go to jail.

Good, may be people will stop telling us that pharma makes vaccines to save us all and there is no money in them.

that was picked up from the 'Associated Press'.

isn't it wonderful that pharma can take out a free ad for itself and masquerade it as a 'press release'?

Notice how some diseases they are making vaxes for have been linked to previously licensed vaxes?

I find it interesting that they can develop vaccines to prevent things like alzheimer's and AIDS but have nothing to cure it. So we're supposed to voluntarily put more viruses into our system and HOPE we aren't the unfortunate ones to develop the problems or that some angry or non-caring person isn't purposely infecting as many people as possible due to some grudge? Umm....okay, don't look for me to run to the clinic volunteering for that....

Don't get it-they should be using all that $ they have to develop a vaccine for everything and work on finding a cure. Did that concept get lost in the shuffle of vaccine making?

and don't forget how much big pharma donates to senators/congress members campaigns. Vaccines are big business for govt too. I wonder how much the cdc's budget grew this year.

But see...this allows them to double or even triple their profit...first they get a vaccine mandated so that every child in the country (and other countries) have to buy their product - then, when it doesn't work, they get to sell drugs to help or mask the symptoms of the disease - then, they get to sell all the drugs to help the problems that their vaccines caused...ADD meds etc.
