How much longer?

Thread Starter
Until my twin boys sleep longer than 3 hour stretches at night. I know it's still early, but I remember with my daughter we were getting good 5-6 hour stretches of time where we all could sleep. They are now 6 weeks old and dh and I have been doing tag-team night duty for a while; it's getting rather old and I'm a big ol' crab during the day with little sleep.

Any words of ecouragement?

Thanks

mine were still in the NICU then so I can't say if twins are different but my singelton started sleeping longer stretches right around then (6 weeks)

my girls are 11 months and still dont sleep through the night. my 3 year old still wakes up once at night too. she used to sleep solid through the night but now its potty training that we are dealing with. my point is that all kids are different and i guess i would never expect a 6 month old breastfeeding baby to sleep through the night because they would still be hungry through the night. some people are lucky to have theirs sleeping through the night but is that "normal" i thiink its more "normal" to have babies waking up. that would be a good poll....

I can feel your pain on the sleep issue...but I'm not going to be of any help. My girls are now 14-months-old and still waking quite often to nurse at night. My oldest dd started sleeping through the night at 19-months...that was when I became pg again and decided to night wean her. I do think that co-sleeping, bf'd babies tend to wake more then bf'd babies who sleep in their own beds. I wish I had the magic answer for both of us. I'd LOVE to get a solid night of zzz's!

You may want to post your question on the Nighttime Parenting board here at MDC.

oh sleeping through the night? LOL I was just answering about sleeping a longer stretch - I think most babies do start sleeping one long stretch within 6-12 weeks after birth sleeping through the night? I think about 3-6 years LOL

baby books usually refer to sleeping through the night as being a 5-6 hour streach. thats what i mean by sleeping through the night. i personally still dont sleep through the night......potty brakes, water. ect... thats beyhond feeding babies and taking toddler to the potty.
