Side Sleeping

DD is almost 4 months old and can now roll from her back to her side and to her stomach (if she feels so inclined!).

We co-sleep part time, and whether in the crib or in bed with me, DD has always slept on her back. Lately however, esp. in bed with me, she likes ot snuggle up next to me on her side. Initially I tried to roll her on her back once she was asleep but that only woke her up. What' I've done the last few nights is to wait until she's asleep and then scoot away from her a little to ensure she's got breathing room.

Last night, she decided that she wanted to sleep on her side in her crib as well. She seems to really prefer it as she was asleep almost instantly and on her back it has started to take a little longer for her to get comfortable.

I guess I'm just wondering if this is ok from a safety perspective. If not, what are some suggestions for getting her to stay on her back?

TIA.

totally safe. my DD slept on her side almost exclusively until she was able to move herself around at will. She was primarily on her side because we were nursing side-lying, and we both just stayed there like that. (I should mention we cosleep full time, always have.) Once she gained full control over moving around she began sleeping in any and all positions.

Thanks ladies I thought it was okay but it makes me feel better to get some reassurance from other moms!
