teriyaki sauce recipe?

I want to try and make teriyaki sauce to marinate my beef/venison/turkey/chicken for jerky making and would like it to be homemade. Can anyone share with me a recipe for teriyaki or a similarly good jerky making sauce?
also interested in ketchup if anyone can share that one too
Thanks!

I've never made jerky, but I make teriyaki sauce a lot for stir-fries. I use equal parts soy sauce and some sort of juice--apple juice, white grape juice, white wine, sherry, something along those lines. Then add some garlic, ginger, and honey or brown sugar. I never measure anything but just mix what looks right and then taste it and adjust as necessary.

thanks! is there a certain soy sauce that is healthier than another? or is any kind/brand just as good as another?

Just saw your question, a month later! I'm not sure if some types of soy sauce are healthier. I know that the flavor varies wildly. The brand I like best is Kikkoman, which is pretty widely available and reasonably priced.

I use equal parts of soy sauce and mirin, with 1/3 of the amount of sake, and ginger and garlic to taste.

Definitely opt for a naturally brewed soy sauce. I prefer kikkoman.
