Use it or Lose it - idea thread

Thread Starter
Thought maybe we could start an ongoing thread with the items in our fridges & pantries that need used and we're having a hard time figuring out what to do with them.

I'll start:

I need ideas to use Vanilla Yogurt, various flavored dips {roasted garlic, french onion, peppercorn Parmesan, etc}, milk, corn flakes, rice krispies, and canned tomato sauce.

What do you need to use up?

For the dips:

Steam some cauliflower and then put it in the blender with the dip (which ever you choose) and the texture turns out very much like mashed potatoes, but a nice healthy version.

I have no ideas on the dips since dh and I usually polish those off pretty fast.

corn flakes - blend them up and use them for bread crumbs.
rice krispies - rice krispy treats! that's my only thought
milk - freeze it
tomato sauce - I use for everything, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, taco soup

Hhmm I was also going to say use the cornflakes as crumbs, you could maybe combine one of the dips with milk and make a sauce to pour over chicken that is coated with the cornflakes.

You could use the yogurt and milk together in a smoothie if you have some fruit.

tomato sauce - add curry, a little bit of the milk or cream, and have it with rice and either chickpeas or a meat or veg

you could use the tomato sauce for english muffin pizzas

Ok, what do I have that needs to be used.....flaked coconut, cans of corn, chickpeas, and sour cream. Any ideas?

Vanilla yogurt you can also use in things like pancake and muffin batter instead of milk.

Tomato sauce can be used to make vegetable or lentil soups as well.

Chickpeas= home made hummus, or toss in soups, salads or curries.

Flaked coconut add to baked good or home made granola. You can even pulverize it in a food processor before adding to baked goods to make it blend in more with the flour rather than having such a coconut consistency (DH doesn't like coconut, so I find creative ways to use it).

Canned corn I would just toss in a succotash type dish.

Sour cream I would blend into cooked, pureed spinach for home made creamed spinach. Or make some type of casserole with it.
