Manuka honey?

Have anyone tried that? How does it differ from a regular honey?
I heard that it is good, but it is triple the price of a regular honey, so I wonder if it is really that good.

I realize this is an old thread and, sadly, one with no responses. I found it doing a search for "manuka honey" hoping to see some discussion of it.

So I am resurrecting this thread.

We just invested in a bottle and have been giving it to dd for about a week now, so too early to pass any judgments.

I was wondering if anyone had experience? I am particularly curious about Manuka to treat (prevent?) whooping cough since we are apparently in an epidemic now and everywhere I go these days I seem to be surrounded by people with nasty, hacking coughs.

Is Manuka the real deal, or is it all hype?

Never heard of it for whooping cough, but we found it was one of the best remedies out there for a staph infection. Better than antibiotics and antibiotic cream. We used it externally, and left it on for a long time under a bandage. It was amazing how fast it would reduce redness, swelling, and reduce blistering.

We also found tamanu oil to be good at that, in case anyone is interested. But manuka honey was even better.

I have heard of it for staph and MRSA, and also heard it was good for ulcers and even strep. I have seen some passing reference to whooping cough, but nothing specific, much less tested (maybe just an assumption that it would help?). So I was wondering if anyone had tried it with these kinds of bacterial infections.

Good to hear that it lives up to its reputation for staph There must be something to it then, right?

Hi, in order for manuka bio active honey 20+ to kill bacteria, it must contact the infection directly, thus it must be be breathed in, so it needs to be diluted with medical saline soloution from yr chemist 50/50 with the honey, and vapourised thru a nebulizer or something simular, it does work but must used be until the infection has long disappeared , not recommended for new borns,
