Blocking bleeding colors

Intriguing sounding huh?

I am almost done with my first stocking and was just reading up on blocking techniques. One thing that isn't mentioned though is exactly my issue.

How do I go about blocking a RED and WHITE item without the red bleeding all over the white? I definitely should have thought out my color combo.

It's Paton's merino if that makes any difference. Last time I used their red was on a solid pair of longies and didn't block.

You knit a swatch and see if the colours are going to bleed. Personally, though, I'd consider a steam iron and a teatowel.

I agree with flapjack. I almost always block with my steamer.

Ok I didn't want to but I went ahead and listened (well on the iron part.....no way was I going to knit a swatch. ) and . I forgot how much easier that can be! It turned out freakin' awesome! I was considering lining it but after all is said and done I don't think I'll need to. Seaming down my hem right now and then will add DD1's name. Sooooo in love with this thing!
