Victory for Non-Vaccing in WIC!

I called yesterday to set up an appointment to get my kids back on wic. We don't qualify durring the summer but more than qualify durring the winter. Anyways - before we had always been told to bring in their shot records for identification. And I always told them that we didn't have shot records because we don't vax. They were never quite sure what to say - even with one of their own staff being a vax-free family.

But this time when I called in they had a list of things to bring in. Shot records, birth cert, ssc.
I am so excited that they aren't exclusivly telling parents to bring in shot records. In my book that is a small victory in at least being tollerated for not vaccing!

Yea!!! I'm glad to hear this! We have an appt next month, and I've been pretty concerned about how pushy they will be about the vaccines. Do they pressure you to file for an exemption, or do they just leave it alone?

There is nothing to be exempt from.

WIC Eligibility & Vax
"Immunization records and/or an infant/child’s immunization status are in no way tied to the receipt of WIC benefits. "

I take it a step further and refuse blood draws/pricks too. As long as you say it's for religious purposes they can't do anything about it.

Not vaccing as never been an issue - it was more like it was their perfered form on identification for a child. I've never had to explain why. I've just stated when asked, "No they don't have vax cards, we don't vaccinate."
Nothing has ever been mentioned beyond that.

We do this too, they hate us for it and think we are way loonie.... but we are in a small town so I'm sure it's the norm to go with the program. Honestly, all we had to do was say it was against our religion, and write out a statement on their letterhead and it went in our file (of course we got a copy for ourselves as well!) That was it!
