EDD: Aug 13, 2010
Name: Amy
Age: 31
Location: Twin Cities, MN
Family (partner, other children, etc): Husband Dan, sons Peter (5.5) and Leo (3.5)
Gender preferences/inklings: would love a girl, but a third boy would certainly be easy to prepare for
Names you like: at the moment, Phillip for a boy and Audrey or Genevieve for a girl, but I'll probably change my mind a dozen times
Birth Plans/Preferences: Both my boys were born at home but were transferred to the NICU with respiratory problems, so we're leaning towards hospital birth this time. I'm trying to figure out which to go to for a natural birth, ideally in the water.
Anything else you'd like to share: After 5 cycles TTC, I'm excited to be here!

AmyKT -- I have a feeling that we see the same group of ladies I'm glad to hear that you had a great birth experience! I've really liked them for my yearly visits and hope to be equally happy with this new experience.

I've actually been down to The Farm with my BFF. She hopes to birth there for her first and in the meantime saw Pam (OMGoodness!!!) for well woman care. The midwives will also travel a longer distance for home births when it isn't a first birth. Anyway, Pam was wonderful with the well-woman visit lasting well over an hour and with all questions answered. The visit was easy and comfortable. I'm sure that they would be happy to speak with anyone by either phone or email.

EDD: August 3, 2010
Name: Stacy
Age: 26
Location: DFW TX!!
Family (partner, other children, etc): DH my sweet geeky EE, Libby (11 mo.), dog and two cats
Names you like: No ideas at all! Our first is Liberty so I want something full of meaning and original but I don't want to start a "virtue theme" so we shall see.
Gender preferences/inklings: No thoughts until last night when I had a very vivid dream of a sonogram that showed a boy. Would be happy with either.
Birth Plans/Preferences: Had a wonderful hospital birth last time but we have moved so we'll see. A friend told me about her group of women docs who are awesome and very natural friendly. I will prob labor at home for a while again and then scoot to the hospital. Worked great for me last time!

Oh, yes! All of the ones I saw were great. Margaret was my primary MW, but Emma attended the birth. I believe both were born on the Farm. I know Emma was. Emma was the perfect birth partner. She was with me a lot (which I didn't expect, and so I brought along a doula) and completely respected my wishes.

EDD: 8/10 ish
Name: LZP
Age: 28
Location: PA
Family (partner, other children, etc): DH, and pets only in my fantasies. (DH is allergic) this is my second pregnancy, but will be our first child.
Gender preferences/inklings: Would love to have a girl, but will also very much love a boy. I just dont relate to boys as easily, but they come with lots less "stuff" when they're older, so that could be really good. I'd get more hand-me-downs for a girl from sisters' kids.
Names you like: many family names that we keep to ourselves. If a boy, it would be "the 4th" of my husband's family name.
Birth Plans/Preferences: currently shopping around. i very much dislike my current MW practice (well, the MWs are nice, but the practice is run terribly. if this one sticks, we'll be interviewing some other options. I'd like a birth center birth with a doula and a MW. Hopefully, our next could be a home birth once I am more confident. Husband would be "more comfortable" with a hospital birth. (luckily, he doesnt have to choose!)
Anything else you'd like to share: we're cautiously expecting, but trying to be positive and hopeful. One loss at 7-8 weeks plus 8 more months of trying has made me pretty jaded and not very optimistic. It's hard to change that so quickly. I'm getting there. Might not post much, until it really soaks in, but I do have some questions. also, as you can see, i am rarely at a loss for words.
