Scholastic warehouse sales?

Just wondering if this is worth an hour drive?

http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/events/warehouse/

I printed out the Fast-Cart Pass and $10 coupon just in case....

Has anyone been to a warehouse sale?

Yes! i hit one of these when my older ds was just a baby and got so many great books for amazing prices. i cant remember exactly what the prices were, but i want to say that hardback picture books were like $3. i was even poorer then than i am now, but i got lots of books, many of which were absolute favorites for years. i would say it should definitely be worth an hours drive and you could probably get very nice gifts for all the children on your shopping list for less than you would spend buying "cheap" gifts.
and thanks for the link- i have wondered how to find out about that sale lately.

What does "PO Day only" mean?

Hi Holli,

That's "purchase order" only. The first day the institutional schools can buy with a school purchase order.

I am totally hitting up the one in our state, which is over an hour drive for me.

Never even heard of these! The closest is over an hour, but now I'm considering organizing a mini caravan =) since it sounds as though it's really worth the trek. thx

It says it's only for "librarians, teachers, school employees..." Can the general public wander in, too?

Not the general public, but homeschoolers who register with Scholastic are teachers within their rules.

How do you go about doing that? I didn't find anything on their website, but maybe I just missed it....

You just go to www.scholastic.com and register as a teacher. I called my school "Homeschool" and gave our home address.

The emails announcing the sales come to the inbox of whatever email addy you give them.
