I have been gone forever because I had nothing to report and no motivation to change that! I am so glad to see the thread is still going though!

So, I first checked in November with the beginning of this thread at 250. I weighed in yesterday morning at 250 again. I am basically starting over, or starting again, and hoping to be more successful than last time. I got down to 245, got through the holidays with no gain, but lost focus in the new year.

So, I am trying to eat better, work out more, and take care of myself. Let's hope it works!

Week #1 April 13
Start Weight: 250

First Goal: 239
Second Goal: 225
Third Goal: 219
Fourth Goal: 205
Fifth Goal: 199
Ideal Weight: 177

Welcome back claybear! I sometimes want to give up on this thread too as things have become slower and more up and down. But making myself come really does help keep me focused so that each week is a new week. Thanks for starting it - and stick around even if your progress is slow. You can do it!

Week #2 April 19

Second Goal: 225
Third Goal: 219

Good Morning Ladies. Claybear you you inspired me to admit that I gained most of my weight back. I need to work on coping skills...things go south and I consume a million calories in a day. I also must admit that I HATE to exercise. But, yesterday I dug up, transported, and planted a row of bamboo along the property line.It took 2 hours to dig it up and about an hour to plant. Today I am finishing my veggie garden fence and hope to plant. Can I use yard work as exercise?

Start over: week 1: 181.8 pounds
(I could kick myself)
Goal #1...178
Goal #2...173
Goal #3...169
I don't think I have gotten below 169 since I got married. So, that would be huge. Also, maybe the time constraints are too much for me. Maybe some progress is better than none? I'm serious... Dieting doesn't work for me. I need to change my emotional ties to food. If I could just shift that focus I KNOW I would loose...I've done it before. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks for letting me come back.

week one for me

Thought I would join in...

I started working out yesterday. I did all the wonderful weighing and measuring so I had a starting point.

Starting Weight: 204.6 lb
Goal #1: 199 by the end of May
Goal #2: 194 by the end of June

I figured a pound a week would work out just nicely. I'd like to lose the baby weight (35lb) and then get to a healthy weight of 135lb. I figure if I can lose 4-5 lbs a month, I will make it 135lb just in time to start TTC all over again.

Yesterday I went for a 7k walk and did Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - Level 1. Did the DVD again today and planning on heading out for a walk just as soon as the LO wakes up.

My next goal is to actually start eating 3 meals a day. Novel concept. Haven't done it since LO was born 5 months ago. Goal after that would be 3 healthy meals a day

Here's hoping that I truly am leaving 216 behind. I was there for three weeks! Frankly I am not holding my breath as AF is visiting soon.

Ok, so this week I am putting the scale away. I will weigh again next Tuesday morning but not before then.

Diet still stable, no real changes, nicely low-carb-high-fat. I have been really hitting it hard on the free weights and I can tell a difference. Yay!

Hey Claybear, now that you're back, I want to say thanks for starting this thread!

And welcome to LynnMarie!

Check-In Week#21
Starting weight: 203 (from when I first started); 174 from start of challenge on 11/17
Last week's weight: 156
This week's weight: 154.6
This week (+1day) loss/gain: -1.4
Total lost: 48.4 since beginning; 18.4 since challenge
Goal Weight: 140

So close to 50!!! Hopefully next week - that's a real goal to keep me focused for the week. I'm pretty excited about my progress this week because I think I made some changes that are really going to help me get on top of things.

I haven't been able to exercise or get to the gym most of the month because daycare's been closed for 2 1/2 weeks and my partner's been crazy busy with work and school. However, I bough a pedometer and am aiming for 10,000 steps/day. In the past week I averaged closer to 13,000 - mostly just by taking my son to the playground once or twice a day, pushing him in the stroller to get phone calls in and walking my errands around the neighborhood.

Also, just in the last 3 days I decided on a rule of only drinking 2x/week, which I think I am ammending to no more than 6 drinks/week with at least 3 abstinence days. I had gotten in the habit of having 1 or 2 beers (sometimes 3) every night and I was worried about it becoming addictive and obviously the extra calories. It's really nice having those extra cals for food and I'm waking up more refreshed.

Finally, I started tracking at the dailyplate a few weeks ago and I think it's really helping me actually establish what level of calories and exercise I need to lose weight. I was able to track my net calories for the last week and average them and see how much I lost. Based on the stats, I lost 1.4 pounds averaging 2,000 net calories a day. Myplate is set to 1,654 calories/day to lose 1.5 pounds. I think the 10,000 steps bumped me up an activity level, which accounts for the loss even with the extra 350 calories/day. I can't guarantee the 10,000 steps so don't want to count on it - if I lose closer to 2lbs eating less great. Also, if I go over 100-200 cals on a day, I'm just not going to sweat it. It's not 100%, but it's nice to know based on my actual experience what to shoot for.

I NEED to get back to real exercise and a lifting routine though. Because I am worried about losing muscle mass and am getting down to the last 15-20lbs and so the muscle definition will start to matter a lot more. Daycare re-opens on Monday and my partner and I are going to sit down and figure out how to get back to a more equal parenting model and that should free up time for me to get to the gym at least 3x/week where I will focus on lifting and hiit. I'm going to start NROLW over from the beginning because I've been out of it so long and want to develop more consistency - just shortening the 1st phase to 8 workouts instead of 16.

Okay, wow - that was an opus, but I have a renewed burst of energy/committment so am pretty excited. I think I could make my goal by July 4th, which would be really, really awesome.

Congrats to everyone else out there working so hard.

Oh, and Ms. B. Sprout - congratulations!!! You reached your first goal 6 weeks ahead of goal and have lost over 20 pounds. That is a major milestone! And I'm betting it's making a real difference in how you look and feel.

Maybe it's time for a new interim goal.

Thank you so much! That's so sweet!

I only just now came back to this thread, so please excuse my delay in responding!

Yeah, I am feeling pretty excited. I put the scale away this week, and it's made a big difference -- this week I am just focusing on how I feel. Weightlifting has made me feel even better than weight loss -- I love feeling strong, it's amazing! And seeing little muscles start popping out all over is just unreal. I'm like -- Really? Is this MY body??!

I will think about an interim goal.

Here's hoping you get your 50 this week! And you're super-close to goal, too. July 4 seems pretty do-able for 14 more pounds (only 14!!). I hope your tracking has gone well this week.

Thanks for the support!

Week 2 for me

Finally got around to reading the whole thread and I want to thank you all for inspiring me. I love reading how everyone is doing.

I had a good week last week exercise wise. Went for 3 walks (7k each), did my baby boot camp class for 90 min and did Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD 5 times (level 1). Eating was crap. So this week I am going to try and focus on having 3 meals a day. And maybe more vegetables and less sugar. I'd like to keep up the exercise too.

Starting weight: 204.6 lb
April 26: 203.4 lb
total loss: 1.2 lb
Goal #1: 199 by May 31
Goal #2: 194 by June 27

I lost 2 pounds the first week back and another 3 pounds this week. Feeling great about that!! I did a ton of bike riding this week, inclduing one really challenging ride. Also, sit up almost daily and lots of yoga. I feel so much better when I get regular work outs in, so I am really enjoying it.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Well done, LynnMarie & claybear!
Welcome LynnMarie! And yay for new goals, claybear!

I'm going to have an interim goal - nothing like a wedding to go to, to make one enthusiastic about a bit of a real push. The last couple weeks have been bad for me, I had a cold then my sister descended on our house - which is actually not too bad, I'm going to have to lean on her for babysitting this week because my DH is away. But I'd really like to be down to 155 and an extra bf % point by May 15. This will be challenging! I'm gonna have to concentrate really hard on getting 4 workouts/week in and being really conscious about the food.

No change this week (well, up 1 lb - bleh).

Starting weight: 171
Last week: 161.0
This week: 162.0
starting bf%: 41%
this week bf%: 39%

interim goal: 155 & 38% by May 15
final goal: 130 & 25% by Sept. 1
Check-In Week#22
Starting weight: 203 (from when I first started); 174 from start of challenge on 11/17
Last week's weight: 154.6
This week's weight: 152.5
This week (- 1 day) loss/gain: -2.1
Total lost: 50.5 since beginning; 20.5 since challenge
Goal Weight: 140

I DID IT!!! Not my goal, but I hit 50lbs lost!!! I've been right around here for a while now so such an exciting threshold to cross. And yesterday I bought a pair of size 10 jeans that fit perfectly and a medium shirt. I really do look different. It's so exciting. And I lost 2lbs in 6 days just by following through on the adjustments I talked about last week, which makes me REALLY optimistic about being able to reach my overall goal.

Where is everybody? Come on over and post your progress or challenges. Everyone's doing so well and spring can only help.

hi mamas *waves*

my 8 year old son just came up to me and said "hey mom, you know that your butt shows on both sides of the chair?"

ouch.

i've known i needed to work on this, but, really, that's a great kick-start

so. as of today, i weigh 245. i'm 5'8. my goal is to reach 215 by the end of summer. it's not much, but i have such a hard time losing weight, i will be absolutely thrilled to drop 30 pounds.

i wear a size 22 in jeans right now, and i would love to have that stack of 18's on my closet shelf be comfortable again.
