Is it the pumping?

DS is not quite 2 wks old and we're having major spitting up issues. I never had these with DD and I'm wondering why. I've been pumping the extra since my milk came in to store in the freezer. I feed him on each side for about 2 hours. He'll fuss like he's hungry, I feed him and then he comfort sucks, but since they're so full, he keeps eating, then acts like he's uncomfortable, wants to nurse more, spits up (too full?) and on and on... He's crying and pulling at my breast so it's impossible to resist giving it to him, but at the same time I know it's going to make him spit up! I tried the pacifier to no avail. He's sleeping fine at night and aside from the usual explosive BF poos, I'm not suspecting food issues (very seldom have dairy containing foods, little soy, etc.), especially since there are none in the family.

Could the problem with the spitting up be the excess milk, when all he wants to do is comfort nurse, but is instead getting more milk? Advice? Solutions?

Two weeks seems awfully soon to be pumping. It sounds like you might have oversupply issues and/or OALD. Pumping will make oversupply issues worse. I would wait a few more weeks until your supply is regulated to start building a stash.

Thanks for your reply. I actually called a LLL leader last night and she told me the same thing. She said it could be causing a foremilk/hindmilk issue and that making him uncomfortable.

And I was just trying to get ahead of the BM storing!
