FO: (total brag one too) Christmas Stocking

This was my first stranded/intarsia/two color knitting (whatever you want to call it ). I LOVE it. I'm actually looking forward to the next one. This is for DD1. We've never had real stockings (last year I made some super fast out of crap Walmart felt ) and every year I think about making them. So I gave myself plenty of time to do the kiddos for this year and got going. Super easy and I love how it turned out. Nice and classic. I will add on their names at the top but don't put those out to the internet/blog so I figured I'd take pictures of them sans names. Plus, I really need to find a pretty way to do it.

How it'll hang

And because I know there are those out there curious:
Inside 1
Inside 2

My gauge was a bit off on the second chart (works from the toe up) and I was worried blocking was going to be a pain. Nope! Yet again, blocking fixes a myriad of issues. The pattern (Glacier stocking) has the cuff as ribbing but that doesn't feel Christmas-y to me so I just made it a bit longer and hemmed it down. Sooooo happy I did.

Beautiful!

I just started doing stranded knitting like that. I'm hooked! I've done a couple pairs of mittens and I'm working on some socks. They turn out so warm and cozy with the extra layer in them.

Wow, those are beautiful! Where did you get the pattern?

I'm very impressed. Maybe in March I'll have time to make some for next Christmas.

They go shockingly fast. The chart itself is only 24 rows. Actual knitting time on here was maybe a week. Had I had circs that were small enough it probably would have gone faster (for me). You could always start now and aim to have them done for next year.

You MADE that??? WOW. Looks amazing - professional. You could sell those at holiday bazaars and they'd go like HOTCAKES. Really, really nice.

Try a stocking. Seriously. It's sock construction but with big yarn and big needles AND you only have to make one. No second sock syndrome. The pattern I used is seriously a standard toe up sock.
