Making glycerin vanilla?

Has anyone made glycerin vanilla? I have this big ole bottle of glycerin & a big bag of vanilla beans - now what?

How much of each? How long to let it sit? How long will it keep?

I don't know about glycerin per se, but I have read in several places now...

Slit the vanilla bean lengthwise and immerse in [vodka is the most common]. Let it sit. I forget the rest of the details, but you could probably find it on google....

I have organic vanilla beans and a bottle of rum that I am going to "marry"....
