Expired pregnancy test?

I have a test that expired 3 months ago. Does anyone have experience using expired tests & know if it would still work? I read very mixed things on the internet. If it's more likely to give me a BFN, I might as well use it & see what happens. But if it could possibly give me a false positive, I don't want to deal with that!

I wouldnt trust it. Personally if I had an expired one I would pour some water on it to see what happens! LOL

If it's gone bad it's far more likely to give a false negative than a false positive.

I would still use it 3 months is not that long.

I had a few that expired a year ago... I peed on them, but I will pee on any test that I can get my hands on. It was negative.

I agree with Mae

I wouldnt trust it. I'd buy some cheapies and see what comes up and then buy the good ones.

Good Luck!

I know it is a little late, but my sister is a MD and when HPT tests are expired, the hospital tosses them. Instead she gave me a bunch. While they might not work, they most likely do. They did with me.
I used them around 14-15 days DPO and they came up positive (when I was preggers with DS). I used them the past couple month (hey, I'm paranoid!!!) and they always came up negative, which happens to be true
So I think they still do work, but might be less sensitive.

See, that's my gut instinct on it....

In any case, I wasn't pregnant last month, so the negative I got on the test was correct in that case!

I got a false positive on an expired FRER test. I tested with 2 other very sensitive brands the same day and they were blaringly negative. You don't need that heartache. Throw it away.

oops, I see this post is old. Well, may this tidbit of info help someone with this question in the future.

I got a false negative on an expired test once. Tested the same day with the same test not expired and got a BFP. Now I have DD.
