Hypnobabies for for an experienced birther

So after the other recent thread about it, my interest is peaked! But I have a question for those who are more familiar with it.

I'm familiar with Hypnobirthing, I read her book and practiced with the Cd's(no class near me) I used in ofen in pregnancy, and in early labor, but I couldn't keep up with it as labor progressed. I am also a doula and CBE. For the next time around I'd be interested in learning the Hypnobabies methods, but I don't really need a comprehensive childbirth course at this point. KWIM? Have any of you been in a similar circumstance when getting into the Hypnobabies program. What did you do?

I used it for both my births. The second time I didn't read all the info in the manual and basicly just practiced the CDs

With my later Hypnobabies babies I focused on the hypnosis practice, nutrition, and exercises.

This is my second hypnobabies birth so I've not read the book, only done the CDs, although I did leave the book at the hospital last time so it's not like I had it here. I think you'd probably have a read through the book anyway, partly to get some of the background on hypnosis. Obviously most of the childbirth prep won't be essential for you, but as it's there I guess you'd probably have a flip through.

The partner booklet obviously is essential for you as that's got the partner scripts and things like the cue words and phrases for your partner to use during birthing.

When compared to hypnobirthing with just the book and CD the hypnobabies home study course will help you a lot more. You'll get a lot more hypnosis information and practice, there's more CDs and more practice so you're bound to find it easier.

You may aswell get the course and just read through the book once, rather than actually really study it. There's no such thing as too much information and at least the hypnosis aspect (which is the main part) will help you have a wonderful birthing.

Oh, yes, you absolutely need to read through the hypnosis info in the book. It will explain how it all works and the order of the CDs/scripts is important.

I'm using hypnobabies for the 2nd time and I just kinda skimmed through the home course book this time around and focused on practicing with the cd's. I will probably go over the partner book/hints with DH as we get closer.

We've moved several times since my 1st Hypnobabies birth in 2004, so I no longer have the book (or even the CDs, just the tracks in iTunes). With births #2 and 3 I just listened to the tracks without using the book, I'll do the same thing this time around.

Thank you for your replies! So it seems like ordering the home study course is the way everyone went?

This will be my third Hypnobabies birth.

I pretty much have everything memorized in my homestudy manual lol so I'm just listening to the cds (a LOT) the more practice the better!
My 2nd pregnancy I started at 20 weeks. And his birth was so wonderful. You can see it on youtube "Willem Audie's Hypnobabies Homebirth".
This pregnancy has been incredibly stressful, so I started listening to a couple of the scripts (affirmations and such) at about 16 weeks to keep me positive.

With my first pregnancy, I first found Hypnobirthing (there was no Hypnobabies instructor in my area and i thought they'd be the same). I found their stuff pretty useless and left me wanting/needing more! IMO, it's great for guided relaxation and visualization, but I got nothing in the way of hypno-anesthesia like I did with Hypnobabies.. So then I ordered Hypnobabies. The Hypnobabies program is so well rounded, and detailed!
