I'm wondering how much I need to think about my children's consumption of minerals from well water. They have drunk well water (from 3 different houses) for pretty much their entire lives. They have perfect teeth right now (they're 3 and 6), but I know that naturally occuring fluoride can be prevalent in various rock formations in New Mexico, and that having too much fluoride can discolor and weaken developing adult teeth.
They have good sources of minerals in their diet from nuts, veggies, beans and tofu, but what makes minerals in water different and particularly of concern? It seems like nutrients from food would always be in greater quantities than from water. Are minerals carried by water just different ones than the ones in food?
People with wells, (or with knowledge about the subject), what minerals did you get your drinking water tested for? Which minerals in water are healthy to consume?
