My sauerkraut is gross

I followed the directions for making sauerkraut. It's been fermenting for a week. And, it's gross. Super salty and sour but not is a good, yummy sauerkraut way. It a gross, maybe this isn't good, way.

Should I toss it? Wait a while longer?

Darn! Bubbies is so expensive but, way better than mine.

I let mine go for at least a month and the flavour develops. Give it a bit more time! As long as it still smells good to you, keep it for longer. I find that the saltiness diminishes over time as well.

Yeah, the instructions I followed said to leave it for at least a month... how did you make yours?
