Copywork Thread

I thought we could share what we're using for copywork and create a resource of sorts for each other.

My dd is 6 and we just started copywork, using all caps (coz she FINALLY made it thru the UC alphabet! ) with a little bit of punctuation. Longer verses are being spread out over two or more days for us.

Post your sources if you have them.

We are using Classical Writing: Primer Autumn with ds#1. This week, he had the first two verses of All People That on Earth Do Dwell. He'll do the last two verses (or stanzas?) the week after Thanksgiving.

Ds#2 is doing Writing With Ease 1. This week we used Mary Poppins for our copywork - two sentences from the WWE workbook and two based on his narrations.

Next week, being a short week, we will be doing only history and science. So, they will both end up with copywork around those two subjects (probably narration based).

We have used the Draw-Write-Now books a couple times too. They are a fun resource for something different with copywork (especially for me in short weeks where I don't want to start a full week with their regular programs).

We're using Writing with Ease and First Language Lessons for copywork. Sentences are usually 5-10 words long. I post some of them on my blog.

I just take lines from poetry or stories we have read. Seriously, I come up with it as I assign it, unless he is in the middle of copying a poem or something. Last week we did Humpty Dumpty over four days. Stuff like that.

Yes! That's what we do, too.

Do you mommas mind sharing your favorite verses? Pick out the cream of the crop. I'm interested to see what everyone else is doing and maybe we could borrow each other's favs.

I use some of the files from the books we're reading (Ambleside yahoo group)
I also sometimes have him copy a poem.

This year, he's working on some of George Washington's Rules of Civility.
