HELP! My diapers are falling apart!!!

So...I'm cloth diapering my third child and I've had the strangest (and saddest) thing happen with my diapers in the last few months.

My AIO, some of which are fairly new, some which have been through a few kiddos, are falling apart, right from the outside.

I started storing my dirty diapers in a steel garbage can...could this be the source??

Any help would be greatly appreciated..I only have a few left but would like to keep them!!

Thanks so much!!!

how new is fairly new?
it happens to the very best of diapers sooner or later and if your on baby 3 with them I would say you have had a great run for your investment.
can you switch back to another containment?

I am very certain it is not age...all of them started disintegrating At the same time...almost like they have been treated with acid. I am feeling like it must be a chemical reaction. The pail, laundry soap, or maybe my baby's ph??? It is crazy and now I am terrified to open the washer!! Any other ideas???

Well, my prefolds are shredding, but they've been in continuous use for more than four years. I don't know why relatively new aios would be falling apart though.

the parallel with the metal container and the happenings to the diapers would make me run back to a plastic pail or wetbag.

No real suggestions. Hope you can resolve it quickly.
