Waldorf for little ones

My son just turned one last week. I was putzing around on the computer during his nap today and started reading about the Waldorf approach to schooling, and I LOVE it. I also feel that it will be a good fit for my spirited child. I know schooling in the academic sense doesn't start until grade one, but I am wondering if there is anything I can be doing now for my son?

I am intrigued about the rhythm and movement aspect about Waldorf and am wondering how I can start incorporating that into our family life?

There is no way we will ever be able to afford to send our child(ren) to a Waldorf school. I am very interested in the Waldorf curricula though! I have been tinkering with the idea of homeschooling.

TIA for your thoughts!!

*On the right there are lots of downloads available, too

Also, Heaven on Earth is a great read. I liked it but found the author often asserts her own opinion as fact but it's at least less dogmatic than many Waldorf texts. It's worth the money, and it sort of sets the framework for determining how deep into Waldorf you want to get. There are some very weird parts to Waldorf and this text at least focuses on "natural childhood" as opposed to "Waldorf childhood." The two overlap but are not the same thing.

I also like the Parenting Passageway blog done by MDC's very own Carrie. She gives great advice from a traditional Waldorf perspective. You may want to search her archives. Just Google "Parenting Passageway blog" and it will pull up (sorry, I don't have time to do it right now).

HTH!
