today i went out xmas shopping and left 8 wk old DD with DH and left a 4 ounce freshly expressed bottle for her. she only ate 2 ounces and was content. is that normal? im pretty sure she must normally eat more than 2 ounces in a feeding right? i hardly give her bottles is it b/c shes not used to them. he said she just ate and then stopped and was fine. so idk. any ideas?

Sounds normal to me. DD--5 months old only eats about 3 ounces at a time during the day while I am at work. She may have nursed a couple of times if you had been there, but likely 2 ounces at one feeding in normal.

Usually it is about an ounce per hour you are away. 2-3 ounces is pretty normal. 4 ounces is a lot, and probably about the most you should leave. Their stomachs are so tiny!

this is my experience too. and the more you are away (like if you work) they start to just eat like horses when you are home and only snack while you are at work. DH has likened it to "you aren't hungry until you see the sandwiches" (insert gesture to my breasts)

My 10-month-old has never taken more than 2 ounces in one bottlefeeding. She tends to take the bottle more frequently, but in smaller amounts (I assume) than when nursing.
