This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Thank you for posting this. Congrats on your HBAC! If one could "plan" a birth, I would plan mine to go the exact same way yours did! It's our fantasy to have a fairly quick, peaceful waterbirth before the midwife manages to make it, and everything turns out well!
It's also a reassuring birth story. While my doctor never used the term "CPD" (at least not to my face; I haven't gotten my chart yet), he told my midwife when I was admitted for an induction (pre-e) that he knew it would end in a c-section. (Not that that's what he wanted, he's very old school and let ME decide when it came down to it since dd's health was never in question. He also let my midwife, who has no hospital privileges, attend me throughout labor/pushing, basically relinquishing control to her as if she were a CNM, for which I am eternally grateful.) I have a feeling he took a look at my (almost) 4'11" frame and made up his mind about my pelvis. And even though my mother and grandmother are no larger than me and had seven vaginal births between the two of them, I've always worried about my pelvis, too. My big failure that was the pushing stage of dd's birth has only reinforced this in my mind, even though she was really malpostitioned, I was restricted on my back (bedrest), and I had absolutely no "urge to push". Logically, I can't blame myself for my c-section, but even 2.5 years on and 29 weeks pregnant with my next child, I can't get the "what-if's" out of my mind. What if I had just done this? What if I had just done that?
Ah, sorry, now I'm blathering on in your Triumphant Birth thread.
Congratulations!

What a wonderful story! It is so inspiring to hear how well mamas do after dr's have 'ruled out' a vaginal birth.
I could have written almost the same first story (right down to DS's name!) While I was still on the operating room table the dr said to me "Oh, you can go on to have a dozen more c-sections, but there's no way you'll pass a baby through this pelvis, unless it's premature or a girl". I've always wondered about that girl comment!! Wha?
...thinking maybe I should pick up some Thomas paraphernalia in the next two weeks, as that's the way to my Miles' heart as well!

Thanks ladies! I really hope my story can help or inspire other mamas out there because I know I needed those vbac success stories when I was still doubting myself in the beginning of my second pregnancy.
Fujiko & jess152- I totally understand how you are feeling and what you are going through! I really think that the Dr.s sometimes say things like that to women to make them feel better - that the c-section was totally necessary because of their bone structure, even if they really have no clue. (jess- so funny about the girl story- my Dr. said something similar when I pressed the issue of a vaginal birth like, "oh, you could try but I doubt you'd be able to do it with anything bigger than a 37 wk girl" what??? where do they come up with this stuff??
). I don't think they are trying to be malicious or anything, but being lied to was NOT what I needed and didn't make me feel any better about the c-section.
I did see a chiropractor about 8 times during the second half of my pregnancy just to make sure everything was in alignment and baby positioning was good. I don't know if it really made a difference, but it felt good and made me feel good to be doing something proactive.
