Hi Wise Mamas,
I'm on a high dose of amoxicillian for a BAD ear infection. I was told that it wasn't really a question of whether or not my 4 month old and I would develop a yeast infection/ thrush but rather a question of when we'd develop it.
So... first question, does gentian violet ever expire? We have a bottle from when DD1 was first born, so it's three years old. I tried to find this out online, but couldn't... and the bottle doesn't have an expiration date on it.
Second question, I just found Zand's Candida Quick Cleanse http://www.zand.com/product_individu...?productid=633... and thought it might be good to take once the antibiotic treatment was done... but it says not to take while BFing... is this a CYA statement, or is there an herb in it that is bad for babies?
Third, I'm going to do a diluted vinegar rinse on my nipple for after each feeding for now, take acidophilis (?sp) daily, and switch to Lotrimin once yeast symptoms start. Maybe do some gentian violent swabs on us, etc. Also, I'm limiting sugar in my diet. Is there anything else I can do to limit the severity of our bout with thrush?
Thanks for all of your wisdom,
~maddymama
