14 weeks and pulling off/screaming...HELP!!!

Ds is 14 weeks, and just as of last night he is very agitated at the breast, pulls off screaming, will latch back on then pull off again, scream again and so on. He did it ALL NIGHT LAST NIGHT and ALL DAY TODAY. I feel like I have no idea what is going on with him lately. I haven't ate anything differently, am not pregnant (dh got a V back in march, he never got his count done, but I'm pretty sure we are safe there) nothing else has changed.

Is this a nursing strike? I nursed my other 2 before, but not exclusively for this long. I've never had experience with what he is doing before now.

Any ideas? Suggestions? He is just ONE UNHAPPY BABE right now.

that's rough! Dd2 is the same age, and has been doing some thing similar off and on recently...A few reasons I've noticed she does it.

1) she's waay over tired, wants to comfort nurse and is angry that milk is coming out because she's not hungry.
2) her belly is hurting- milk was flowing too fast, swolled alot of air.
3) some times I think she just plain gets growing pains and is achey after a feeding spree leading up to a growth spurt.

I have recently cut waaay back on the dairy- am almost dairy free...I've found if I eat more than usual she gets a bit fussier.

nak Try pumping one side pretty empty and try again, and you'll know if this is why. It was this way for us at 14 wks or so, too.

I posted this same question 6 weeks or so back when my daughter was the same age. I have no idea why she pulled off and screamed like that but thankfully it only lasted for about a week and then it was back to normal.
