As ECers I always loved AIO's and pockets the best. This was the first time starting from birth and I heard prefolds were the best for newborns. I didnt get some til she was a few weeks old. It was a huge learning curve for me to actually get one on. It took like 5 minute to get her all done. Then she'd wet and Id do it all over again
But being the CD lover I am I still enjoyed it. It was a fun new thing. I even felt all warm and fuzzy looking at the prefold piles on the change table
And taking the quilted warm prefolds out of the dryer....
But the new phase wore off. I was past the learning curve phase and onto the "they're still a PITA to put on even though I know how to do it" phase. The pins took forever to get on, the snappis tried to eat me with their sharp teeth a few times (not the baby luckily). They ALWAYS had to go into the dryer, or they turned to sandpaper on the line. Which meant running a 3 hour dryer load even on a hot day (my dryer is my washer also so this meant I couldnt get other washing done- it was still going at 3am many times).
There's almost no diaper types/brands I dont love. I'll admit Im definitely not a flats girl. Never will be. But I really thought I would like prefolds and I didnt think there would be so much fiddling to get them right every.single.time. I thought once you knew how to do it, bam you just stick it on. I think they are actually more difficult than a ready folded flat. I mean first you trifold, then you fan the back, then you have to unfan the front to get it to fit, but NOT too much or the whole thing is unfanned/folded, then there's trying to get the snappi on WITHOUT letting it go through just one layer as this could hurt the baby, then tucking the edges in around the legs, then getting a cover on......and and and....
I still hear so many people saying how much they LOVE prefolds. So I wanna know if there's anyone else who just cannot use prefolds??? Even though they tried, even though they want to love them....Did anyone else just never have them grow on you?

and my prefolds didn't get all fussy in the wash. I also prefered going coverless and prefolds made that easier.
He is a very heavy wetter/pooper and prefolds do the job so much better than anything else for him!
