Need advice on brands

I used a Maya Wrap with my girls last time, and it worked great for us EXCEPT when they were wee little newborns. I could never get them positioned such that I didn't feel like their heads were bent forward, and it always seemed to make the spitting up worse for one babe.

Is there another sling-type carrier that you would suggest that might give more support to a newborn? (I'll probably stick with my Maya Wraps for when the new babe gets bigger and more head control.) Thanks!

I really love stretch wraps for newborns. They are my favorite when they're little.

I have never used a stretch wrap. I've been afraid they will lose their "stretch" and get out of shape. Does that ever happen? Are they comfortable? Do they get hot? Enquiring mnds want to know.

My stretch wrap didn't sag, but some may be more prone to it than others. Plus, I stopped using mine when my LO was around 5 months because it was easier to just use a soft structured carrier. Most people don't use them as long as other carriers though, but they are also cheaper. You can also make a stretch wrap by buying some jersey fabric yourself, although you need to make sure it's not too stretchy.

I find them really comfortable for newborns, but less comfortable for older, heavier, more mobile babies. They can be hot in summer, but most of the time it didn't bother me.

I agree. I used my Moby from basically birth to 4 months. I can still use it occasionally, but prefer my SSC. No, if you tie it well, it does not lose its stretch. Yes, I would imagine it would get warm if you were spending hours mucking about outside, but almost any carrier will. I live in Houston, TX, my baby was born in July, and I HATE being hot, and I LOVED my Moby, if that tells you anything.

They are extremely comfortable. I honestly don't think there is a more comfortable carrier. I mean, as they get heavier (4 months +) it gets less comfortable, but for newborns it's tops.
