learning tower

Any sucess stories about the learning tower. My dd will be 15 months at christmas. Just wondering how it works. I guess you have to keep the part of the counter she will have access to safe. Like right now we have knives on the counter.

We have one, here are my thoughts:

I wouldn't buy it again and am contemplating selling it. NOT because there is anything wrong with it at all.

I find it bulky and hard to move. I can move it, but my son cannot. He has a Svan youth chair that he uses to eat on and can easily push to the counter, sink, etc. and basically use as a step stool.

...though, the learning tower was a bit more useful at your daughter's age when I probably would have been too scared to let him use it as a step stool. (though we'll see how I feel with kid # 2 since we tend to relax more).

Anyhow, if I got a chance to do it over, I would have only bought the svan chair, as I think it's useful in more ways (promoting independence at the dining table, and easy to maneuver for the child).

But, that's just where I'm coming from, everyone is different. Also, we have a small-ish eat-in kitchen.

Thanks for your input. Our kitchen is small too. But dd loves to stand. She's started standing in her high chair too. I will check out the svan chairs. I think I know what they are. Thanks.

We just push a kitchen chair up to the counter. Works great!

One of the reasons I like the LT is *because* my children can't push it until they are 4+. My 18 mo old can push chairs, and is capable of pushing them up to the hot stove, etc. Not so w/ the LT! We have stools, chairs, and the LT and the LT is by far my fave for safe containment. I can have both of them in there at the same time and not have to worry about anyone accidentally getting pushed out or slipping. I would buy it again in a minute. The only negative in my mind is its size, but I have a big kitchen so it hasn't been a problem.

If you go w/ a LT, get the light colored/natural--the cherry looks very smart but it nicks really easily. Our friends w/ the darker LTs have a lot more wear on theirs, and we've been very hard on ours, yet ours still looks new.

We love ours! We got it when our daughter was around 18 months old and she uses it daily two years later!

We've always used a regular kitchen chair. DS listens very well and stays away from the hot stove when asked to.

Ours is itting on our back porch holding the dog food container. Too big for our small kitchen. We use a kitchen chair now.
