Transition from Montissori to traditional school

I feel like I have no choice but to pull my son from his current school. With such short notice my only choice for about 4 weeks is to put him in public school, during which time I will submit and get my homeschool plan approved.

My removal has nothing to do with quality of education, but rather issues he is having with another student that are causing hating and discontent at home.

He will go to a traditional school setting. He has been in Montissori for 1 1/2 years now. We will do the switch after Thanksgiving. I am going Monday to sign him up for our local school a few house away from me. I am not able to put him in another school in our district because it would conflict with the ability to get my other child to and/from school and speech therapy most days, so it is the only choice.

He's only been in Montessori for 1 1/2 years? So he's not yet 6? He might not be required to go to school regardless of your homeschool plan status. Check your state laws and ask around the homeschool forums, but it's quite likely that you'll be able to either do nothing because of his age or just tell anyone officially that the plans are in the submission process.

Two transitions in 4 weeks will make figuring out your homeschooling routine harder than it has to be.

Bother, curse my absent internet, I just realized you've already enrolled him in the local school. Hopefully, things are going well, if he is having trouble, remember that since it's only 4 weeks you might as well pull him out instead of struggling to fix problems.

Is he going in as a kindergartner? In most schools the kids of that age are still new to school at this time of year and they are less likely to be sitting in desks all day. I would see if you can talk to the teacher and make her aware of his background. I think most teachers would give him a little extra leeway if they understand that he has not yet been taught how to do traditional school.
