I have no idea but I just wanted to encourage you to try! Are you going with Ellie? She told me that when she called to ask about coverage (I have bcbs), they said they would only cover a cnm. But she billed them anyway and they paid up They didn't pay for everything she billed them for, but she billed them for enough things (like every home visit, for example) that it ended up being more than I paid her during pregnancy. In fact, I just in the last week or so got another $20 check from insurance that I need to send her way! They use billing codes that don't specify place of birth, so they handle it like out of network. I just decided in my head that if I don't get a cent back, its still worth it, but hoped for the best

I am interviewing Ellie on Wednesday. I know that my odds of getting most of it covered with her are good. Good info on the fact that they don't show the place of birth. Guess I'll have to check what my out-of network is. Thanks for the info Rachel!

Well CRAP, my insurance does not covrr any out-of-network proviers period. So I guess I am gonna have to come up with the money somehow.

I have $900 saved & can probably get my parents to give us cash for xmas, so that get's me up to about $1100-$1200. It's a start, but a long way to go. Guess I better find more stuff to sell on ebay.

SIGH

Providence PPO & I have confirmed by my midwife, the other midwifes I interviewed & the insurance company that they will not cover the birth. Oh well we are still doing the hb. It's one of the only issurance companies that they cannot get to cover anything if it's the PPO plan.
