Is there something that might work better for me than the Ergo?

I am wondering if there's something else out there that might fit my needs. DS is 11 weeks old, and I've just started wearing him in the Ergo (versus pouch or Moby) with his legs froggied. He is very long, so his head sticks up high and I have to always hold it since he doesn't have great head control yet.

Is there something that's as quick and easy as the Ergo to get off/on that would allow him to have head support? That's also easy to nurse in? Another issue, too, with the Ergo is that it really pulls on my shoulders (he's in a front carry) and makes me slouchy and causes back ache. I have a very narrow but long torso.

Ideally I'd like to try carrying him on my back soon too...

your DS is at an awkward stage for most of the more structured carriers- too big to be froggied but too small to be legs out. this is due to the fact that they have a set width for the seat of the carrier, while with a sling, pouch, or wrap you can adjust it as needed to fit knee to knee perfectly as he grows. most babies start fitting legs out in the Ergo sometime between 4-6mo. it may be that when your DS is able to fit legs out that the Ergo may feel different to you, as his weight will be more on the waist/hip band at that point. also, while a lot of people like the Ergo for front carries, i really feel like they shine for back carries. they fit much differently on the back then they do on the front.

if you like the moby wrap but feel like it's too stretchy at this point, you may want to look into a good woven wrap. they are much more supprtive and versatile, you can even have him on your back in a woven wrap now, if you wanted. some good brands of woven wraps include Didymos, Girasol, Strochenwiege, and Neobulle. the other thing i'd suggest is a mei tai with a smaller body/width or one with an adjustable seat, like the Mei Tai Baby (this is a brand).

good luck finding something that suits the two of you!

Good point!

I do have a Bali Baby Breeze, which I tried a bit while we were recently in a hot climate; I definitely have more practice in store before I have it mastered! It was comfy, but it's too fussy for me. I want something that I can put on and take off more easily--for nursing and putting on/shedding layers of clothing. Unless there are tips for that that I'm missing!

Ok, I wondered if a Mei Tai might be my answer...

Thanks!

On the Pikkolo you can cinch the crotch down so smaller babies can use it legs out. The BEco has an internal baby seat for this reason as well. I think there are several other carries that do this as well. I prefer the Pikko to the Beco but everyone has a dif opinion!

I used an Ergo for a short time before buying an AngelPack LX. The AngelPack has a narrower and taller body which would possibly fit your little one better. It's also a structured carrier like the Ergo though so it is just as convenient. I think they fit slimmer mamas best, but that's just my opinion.

I also like a Two Mommas Designs buckle tai. They're having a black Friday sale tomorrow--you should check it out! There is a small awkward phase (baby too big to froggy, but too small for legs out), but the body is taller than an Ergo, so the body might support baby's head better.
