Did you talk to the LC about this? Maybe you're taking a while to let down and he's getting ticked waiting? I would think he wouldn't sleep that well if he had reflux, but I'm not sure. I don't recall the Zantac working that fast with my son either. I know my son slept horribly and then slightly better with Zantac. Could you pump and give him a bottle once to see your let down has anything to do with it? Then maybe if you could figure out if a slower letdown or an overactive letdown played a role at all. Just a few ideas but really I'm lost on this one. My son would cry for hours and hours and hours at this age though. *sigh* This too shall pass...

Thank you all for your responses. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone in this. I was feeling so helpless that I decided to not give DS the Zantac on Monday as it didn't seem to be helping. That day was horrible! I just couldn't get him to stop crying or to sleep. DH was at work all day so I had 10 hours of it by myself.

It was horrible. So, Tuesday, he tried the Zantac again and lo and behold we had a great day!! So far today, he hasn't cried either. I'm thinking it's a combination of reflux and colic.

He also has a hard time napping so we're trying to work on that. I am going to try to pump to see if it is overactive letdown as well. I just have to figure out how and when to do that!

So, I'm just going to take each day as it comes...each moment as it comes. This is one of the hardest things I've had to do but I am loving it despite the challenges.

If I were you I would definitely consider eliminating dairy as a dairy intolerance is often related to reflux (or so I have heard).

It does?? Why didn't the Dr say anything? He said to try it for 4 days. Huh....it was another pretty good day, so maybe it is working. I still couldn't get anything done, but there was a lot less crying!
