So excited with my new job and the Ped that I work with!

She's really, really pro-bfing! I'm a NP and CLC and recently moved offices and am getting to know my co-workers. They all know I have a baby and pump in between seeing patients and are really super supportive, but one of the pediatricians just blew me away on Friday. We were discussing extended breastfeeding and she says, "Well I nursed my youngest son until he was 5 yrs old. I don't understand this idea here that we have to stop nursing when they are still babies!" Cool, right? No wonder I have so many bfing moms in this practice; she's such an advocate.

come to TN!!! I'm in Knoxville. I knew that the owner of this practice was hot to get me cause he was dying to have a lactation specialist of some sort in his clinic. I didn't know, though, that one of our docs had nursed her own for so long and 2 of my nurses breastfed for 15+ mos, and one of those nurses has nursed 2 preemies! We have a wealth of breastfeeding experience in our office, and I am loving it. They are so awesome about giving me the time to pump, but also about giving me plenty of time with new bfing moms so that we can tackle any bfing challenges. I even got to spend a full hour with a new mom just a week ago and work on latching without a nipple shield and without the SNS that the fools on L&D were making her use. Baby was back this week for weight check and is doing amazing. We all did a big cheer for her!
